Janet – Class Assistant

Janet first joined the team before leaving to study animal behaviour at university. Janet writes...

I am currently a second year student of BSc animal behaviour at the University of Chester where we study a wide range of animals from lemurs to pythons! Here I have been taught how to scientifically observe, record and interpret animal behaviour, whatever the animal may be. We travel to a nearby animal college where we work hands on with a wide variety of exotic species such as capybara, lemurs and tapir. We recently had a module on canine first aid where we practiced bandages on a lovely little westie!

I have experience in training several dogs particularly my housemate's dogs Billy (Greyhound) and Meg (Whippet,) and recently joined Ladie (Collie x Alsation,) and I often end up helping to train friends dogs, including a doberman and a terrier.

I have been part of the ICC team for about a year prior to going to university, where we were taught the ins and outs of canine behaviour and the modern, kind methods of dog training. I then assisted Lorraine in classes where I gave advice, helped individuals and their dogs. I look forward to the holidays when I can work with the ICC team once again!
