I’ve been working with Debbie since 2007. I first started becoming interested in canine training when I took my youngest dog to one of her puppy classes. He’s a rescued Lab x Mastiff called Branston (because he’s always in a pickle.) He’s very loving but can be quite a handful, especially since he’s hit adolescence at full speed. Sometimes I think he’s never going to come through the other side. He has however just passed his Bronze Good Citizen Award, so there might be hope for him yet. My other dog is a rescued Samoyed called Mojo. He’s a couple of years older than Branston and is a complete fluff ball. He’s a sweetheart, never bothering anyone. Although I do sometimes wonder if he’s all there. Mind you, having a screw loose means he fits into my family perfectly.
Working with animals and their welfare has always been a passion of mine. So when Debbie offered me a place working with her, I just couldn’t resist. I find the job fulfilling and fascinating, especially the side of the work that involves animals with behavioural and psychological issues.
Our work ethics and modern practices of kind handling and reward based training is something I really believe in and I feel really lucky to be able to say that I love my work. Debbie is an incredible teacher.
