Kind handling, reward based dog training

ICC Bronze classes, Southwell - Level 2

These classes follow on from the Puppy and Beginner classes and are designed to build upon the dogs' earlier learning. The classes incorporate a mixture of exercises taken from the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme syllabus (which is useful but rather boring to teach if that is all that we were to do!) Therefore we also include other exercises to teach dogs to pay attention in a wide variety of situations and circumstances, including everyday life situations, competitive obedience exercises, an introduction to agility, tricks to keep dogs and owners on their toes (it's amazing how many dogs are very quickly bored with sit stays but really start to pay attention again when you throw in the odd twirl here and there!) and games.

We also concentrate on helping owners learn how to get their dog working for them in a variety of situations and understanding more of the theory behind how their dog learns. We often say that the puppy and beginner courses are just an introduction to training your dog and this course is where the learning really begins. The classes also recognise the social side of dog training for both dogs and owners and are designed to be fun. Once dogs have reached the required standard they will be offered the opportunity to be tested by an outside examiner for the nationally recognised awards of Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Cost - Weekly classes are booked as £40 for 5 lessons, twice monthly classes are booked as £32 for 4 lessons.

Classes: Evenings at Calverton, Saturdays at Newark

  • BRONZE Mondays 7:35-8:35pm. 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Instructed by Karen. Starting on the 19th April. VENUE - Calverton

  • BRONZE PLUS Mondays 7:35-8:35pm. 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Instructed by Wendy. Starting on the 19th April. VENUE - Calverton
  • BRONZE Wednesdays 8:35-9:35pm. Weekly class. Instructed by Karen. Starting on the 31st March. VENUE - Calverton
  • BRONZE Saturdays 12:20-1:20pm. Weekly class. Starting on the 17th April. VENUE - Newark. NOTE - There will be no class on Easter Sat the 3rd April and there will be a real life special session in Rufford on Sat 10th April - details will be given in class.
